In 1959, when I was a kid, living on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, Kilauea Ike erupted. The lava that cooled in the ocean drifted up on our beaches on Oahu and turned the beautiful white sand black. In 2018, Kilauea again erupted and sent rivers of fire into the lush fern forests and turned them into a wasteland of lava and cinder. Memories of my childhood. Pele can be very destructive. Hand painted silk charmeuse.
