The feathers were inspired by the Raven feathers I often find in our yard in Sedona, Arizona. We have a family of the large and fascinating birds that hang around our house and I never tire of their “caws” and “chuckles” and watching them play in the wind. The rest of the fabric in the blocks was created by pouring fabric paint over ice and allowing the paint to saturate Polyester and Silk Habotai fabric as the ice slowly melts – one of my favorite techniques of painting fabric because of the unexpected and unique results. The blocks are mounted on cotton fabric.
